Our union has created the UC-AFT Member Hardship Fund to provide one-time grants ($250-$500) to support our fellow union members through difficult financial times.  The grants are limited, but they can help with small but significant expenses.

Please donate to this fund to help your fellow UC-AFT members through difficult times.  Note that these contributions are not tax deductible. Your contribution will make an immediate difference in a fellow UC-AFT member's life!

Here's how your contribution will be used:

Intended recipients are members who have immediate needs as a result of illness (including COVID19 pandemic), natural disasters (wildfires, earthquakes, flooding, etc.), and loss of income due to loss of employment or similar circumstances.

Anyone who has been a UC-AFT member since January 2020 is eligible. Part-time and full-time employees are encouraged to apply.

Immediate, unmet needs may include (these are not in order of priority):

  • Food and food supplies
  • Prescription and medical supplies
  • Mortgage payments for homes
  • Car repairs (or payments)
  • Utility payments
  • Lost employment income

Allowable uses of funds might include:

  • Food/food supplies
  • Prescriptions/medical supplies not covered by insurance
  • Rental assistance/mortgage payments for home or business
  • Utility payments
