In November 2016, my mom began fostering Dixie for Pet Res Q Inc., in Tenafly, NJ. Dixie was found tied up to a tree during the floods in Louisiana. Her "owners" left her there to die. Unfortunately, Dixie was not the best candidate for adoption because of her extreme aggression towards other dogs. She waited and waited for a home. My mom had recently lost her dog and was the perfect candidate to foster. On October 24, Dixie started throwing up and became lethargic. My mom rushed her to the vet and her lab results results revealed liver levels that the vet had never seen in a dog (normal level - 100; Dixie's level - 5300). As I type, my mom is rushing Dixie to the emergency vet - Blue Pearl in Paramus. We are expecting her care to be in the $1000s as she needs aggressive treatment and hospitalization. PetResQ's funds are depleted and they need help to cover Dixie's costs. We cannot do this alone. I am begging for help to save Dixie.
