Anne needs your help.  Anne a besoin de votre aide

Anne a pris sa retraite en 2001.  Elle a quelques épargnes mais ne peut pas se permettre certaines activités dont offre son club des aînés.  En 2005, elle s'est cassée la hanche et est devenue déprimée parce qu'elle n'avait pas de famille ni d'amis et son rétablissement était lent.  En 2007, Anne a cessé d'aller au club des aînés et est restée à la maison presque tous les jours, assise devant la télévision.  Un hiver, elle a eu la grippe et a été hospitalisée durant deux semaines, où elle s'est développée une douleur chronique dont les médecins ne pouvaient pas diagnostiquer.  Elle a pris du poids en raison de sa vie sédentaire accrue.  Anne devenait colérique chaque fois qu'elle sortait, alors les gens ont simplement commencé à l'éviter.

Pouvez-vous reconnaître l'histoire d'Anne chez quelqu'un que vous connaissez?  Il existe de nombreuses possibilités où les interactions sociales, les mouvements physiques, les exercices mentaux et un sentiment d'utilité auraient pu changer l'expérience de la retraite d'Anne.

Anne retired in 2001.  She has a little savings but can not afford some activities at her seniors’ club.  In 2005, she broke her hip and became depressed because she didn’t have any family or friends around and recovery was slow.  In 2007, Anne stopped going to the seniors’ club altogether, and stayed home most days, sitting, watching television.  One winter she got the flu and was hospitalized for 2 weeks which set her down a path of chronic pain the doctors could not diagnose.  She gained weight due to her increased sedentary life.  Anne became short tempered whenever she did go out, so people simply started avoiding her. 

Are you able to recognize Anne’s story in someone you know?  There are many opportunities where social interaction, physical movement, mental exercise and a feeling of purpose could have changed Anne’s retirement experience. 

Kigi Agency offers baby boomers the chance to stay active, socially engaged and healthy by providing an easy to use platform to find occasional work or volunteer opportunities in a variety of fields.  Baby boomers like Anne can apply to work a few hours, once in a while, rather than sit at home without anyone to talk to and little movement.  Those few hours can make a world of difference to Anne and the business who needs Anne’s skills to complete a task which does not require a full-time position.

This month, please give to Kigi Agency, a non profit organization helping people like Anne and local businesses connect and thrive.  Businesses can benefit from a reduction in caregiver absenteeism, increased productivity and a reduced shortage of human resources to accomplish smaller tasks by hiring an experienced baby boomer looking to work occasionally.

Help us reach our goal by either donating  what you can  or making a corporate donation to help Kigi Agency reach more baby boomers who can help your business be even more productive. 

  • $20 allows us to talk to Anne at her seniors' club;
  • $500 will provide material and training so businesses are prepared to offer their staff the occasion to work with an active baby-boomer; and
  • $1000 will pay for Kigi Agency to attend at least one forum where we can attract experienced and qualified baby-boomers looking to get out and help your business.  

Make a real difference for people who desperately need your help. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by Christmas and remove the baby boomer sitting on a chair in a large room simply waiting to die.
