Overseas Basketball Association (OBA) is a not-for-profit organization that uses basketball activities as a platform to assist unprivileged youth living in at-risk communities to potentially increase their quality of living and keep youth away from juvenile delinquency through participating in athletics and mentorships.
We believe that a positive and motivated childhood plays a major impact in shaping a child's future. Growing up, “basketball is a way of life”, where great lessons were learned to help us overcome obstacles. We are now utilizing the skills and lessons our mentors taught us to help the next generation.
Each year, over 30% of Canadian youth are limited with access to organized sports due to financial/resource barriers. The “Wish-A-Ball” initiative is to raise funds to hand out basketball equipment and attires to children who have limitations to participate in sporting programs.
The first “Wish-A-Ball” campaign was launched in December 2015, OBA invited families and hand delivered 100 basketballs to kids in our community. We are conitnuing to raise funds to create a special experience for our kids during this special time of the year.
Through the “Wish-A-Ball” initiative, OBA is able to expand its network and reach out to a greater audience that could be benefited through our basketball programs. We hope more families and kids will benefit from our programs in the coming year.
