Each year we work with local community agencies, veterinary hospitals and veterinary medical staff to provide free health clinics for the pets of the homeless and those that are low income. Currently, we are authorized from the College of Veterinarians of British Columbia to hold these clinics in Vancouver’s down town east side (DTES). But our funding support covers helps people with their pets across BC.
Each clinic helps an average of 26 animals, and provides extensive follow up care for between 5 - 10 of the pets we see on that day. This will be our third free clinic at Triage Shelter in Vancouver. In addition to the 28 animals that received free check ups, vaccinations and flea and de-worming treatment at our September 2014 clinic at Triage shelter, we arranged for follow up care for 7 animals that cost close to $10,000
