Capital on the Edge, Inc hasn't added a story.
G’day Friends!
I just want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everybody who supported the Nicavangelists in the month of July.
It’s been one of the toughest months of my life on account of losing loved ones, yet still we’re here as testimonies to the power of God in our lives.
The biggest surprise to me is that the fight hasn’t been about money, which is just bizarre as we have lost our BIGGEST supporter! I usually need to slap myself across the face, so as to stop worrying about how we’re going to provide dinner of an eve... This hasn’t been the case, in the month of July, all thanks to God and you – the people who love and care...
Okay, so what about the month of July? In terms of funding, what have we done?
This month we’ve managed to:
1. Send off Jonny and Steven to YWAM (Youth With A Mission);
2. Pay ALL of our bills on time;
3. Buy enough food for us all, plus reintroduce vegetables, and chicken once per week;
4. Buy enough fans so that everybody has relief at night (Please remember, on average temps across the year, Managua is the second hottest capital city in the world);
5. Have a surprise birthday party for ALL of the children; and
6. Turn our refrigerator back on.
In the month of August, in addition to feeding, clothing, housing and educating we would like to:
1. Buy pillows for everyone. We currently have 4 – not a big deal, but it sure would be nice to sleep a little more comfortably…
2. Buy towels for everyone. We currently have 5 – continuing to share towels will not prohibit us from meeting our discipleship/evangelistic objectives, but oooooh how we’d love to have our own towels…
3. Buy crockery and utensils so that there is enough for everyone to eat at once. We only have 5 cups and 3 knives.
4. Fix cushions on our seats. Our street children won’t even sit on our seats because they are ripped/torn and full of creepy/crawlies.
5. Buy clothes pegs. You may be thinking this is EXTREMELY luxurious, but Jeddo has to run around the lawn every day, picking up and dusting off our undergarments and wot-not.
6. Build dog enclosure. It’s difficult to practice the bachata when you have a Doberman gnawing at your leg. We need the BIG dogs to help protect us at night.
7. Buy a lawn mower. We have found several snakes in our long grass on the property over the past few weeks. It’s difficult to encourage the kids to “go outside and play” when a boa constrictor is waiting for them on the porch.
8. Fumigate our house. I was stung by a scorpion last night whilst I was sleeping on the floor. Teal had one on her arm whilst sitting on one of our seats (the ones with creepy crawlies.).
9. Continue to have our Sunday night Fiestas, complete with chicken, vegetables and party games. Last week we played “Capture the Flag,” this week we’re having relay races, and next week we’re going to do a treasure hunt. These special times are REALLY important in holding on to the kids’ childhoods. It also creates a brightness of future (so important to live for eternity, and looking forward is ALL a part of that…).
10. Keep Jonny and Steven at YWAM (Separate campaign)
11. Pay for Fran & Renz’s education (Separate campaign)
12. Get everybody’s passports and visas for Panama and Costa Rica evangelistic tour. (Separate campaign)
A HUGE praise point this weekend, and as we enter the month of August…
1. The Nicavangelists’ friend Kendra, from the American Assemblies of God, organised a truck load (literally) of food to be delivered to our center. Thank you STOP HUNGER NOW from North Carolina. You are making a HUGE impact in our lives and helping to not only feed hungry Nicaraguans, but also get the Gospel of Jesus Christ out there…
2. Thank you to an AWESOME FAMILY in the UK, who have sold their house and given us a HUGE WAD of the profits (500 pounds). YOU, my friends, are amazing and we are so grateful to you…
Please consider continuing to support the Nicavangelists on a monthly basis. Our monthly budget shortfall is $1,000. We can sacrifice education and international outreach, we cannot sacrifice feeding, clothing and housing the very least of these…
God bless you all and thank you once again,
Jeddoxo
