The Story

Michael Was Here is the story of two estranged sisters who are reunited after the death of their brother, and sent on a road trip to fulfil his last will and testiment. Along the way, the girls are forced to reconnect, and are given a glimpse into the man that their brother was. 

The film is written and directed by Robin Williams and Bronwyn Caudle.

Michael Was Here is a co-written independent Canadian short film by Bronwyn Caudle and Robin Williams. It is a film that questions and investigates the idea of mortality and the strength of family. It will be entered into the international film circuit followed by the smaller independent film circuits after that.

The film will be completed and released in 2014. It is being filmed and takes place during the Canadian winter months. We wanted to create a family of young emerging artists who could come together and create and develop new and original film ideas. Plus we wanted to tell a story that mattered and we wanted to create art that matters. We wanted to add to the growing Canadian film industry.

Robin and Bronwyn met on a set for another show and after that started writing and developing the script Michael Was Here. We deceided to actually make it happen and try to get the film made. So we got a group of people we knew in the film and theatre industry to come together to work on it. After 2 years or re-writes, trying to get funding, gettng filming permits, production schedules, auditions and all the other little things that go behind the making of a film; once all that was in order, then we started filming. 

We wanted to write about characters that matter, and that are relatable, and about topics that matter and need to be investigated further artistically. So here we are now....

The Funds

With the the money raised, we will be able to complete Michael Was Here and take it to the public. Our goal is to take it to the major international film festivals, and then other film festivals after that. We also plan on doing public screenings of it in various forums. This takes money and man power to accomplish. Each festival costs money to enter into, and bringing projects like this to the public costs money as well.
