Honor Max Penette on his 93rd Birthday!
On July 7th, Professor Max Penette will turn 93. Celebrate his life and legacy dedicated to education in Haiti by giving a gift in his honor to PRODEV Haiti.
Professor Max Penette created PRODEV in 1995 with his son-in-law, Daniel Kedar, and daughter, Maryse Penette-Kedar, to empower the youth of Haiti through education. Founded on the idea that "edikayson se sel soliyson," “education is the only solution” in Haiti, PRODEV’s work has expanded over time to address the evolving needs of Haiti’s children. PRODEV is a Haitian-led non-profit, non-political foundation officially recognized by the government of Haiti. From 2006-2010, PRODEV operated a primary school within a detention center for minors. In Spring 2010, following the January 2010 earthquake, PRODEV operated 14 elementary schools and eight kindergartens in tent camps in Peguy Ville and Cite Soleil. PRODEV opened its first independent school, Ecole Nouvelle Zoranje, in October 2010.
Today, PRODEV's vision is a Haiti where all citizens have access to quality education and are empowered to take an active role in building a just and democratic society. PRODEV's mission is to develop, manage and support schools and centers in underserved communities. Inspired by Professor Max Penette, our network is committed to accessibility, excellence and civic participation. We advocate locally and internationally to promote the idea that only education can create a strong Haiti.
For the 2012-2013 school year, PRODEV managed three schools, educating 1,000 students: Ecole Nouvelle Royal Caribbean in Labadee, Ecole Nouvelle Zoranje in Village de La Renaissance, Zoranje, and Institution Mixte Union des Apotres in Cite Soleil.
