Luke is a 5 year retriever mix who has had a rough start to life, to say the least! A true survivor, Luke was shot by a shotgun twice and then hit by a car. He was taken to a county shelter where he was going to be euthanized but luckily Brother Wolf Animal Rescue stepped in and rescued him.

We quickly realized Luke needed a good deal of medical care, as what we first thought might be an injured paw, turned out to be a bullet lodged in his hip bone, which has caused the bones to fuse, requiring an amputation. He has another bullet and at least 8 buckshot throughout the rest of his body. And he is heartworm positive, so he will require that extensive treatment. But the most urgent, and life-threatening, is that he has a diaphragmatic hernia, probably from being hit by a car. This means that his intestines and other internal organs like his liver/pancreas, have been pushed up into his chest cavity. Luke will need surgery as soon as possible for us to save him , but we need your financial assistance to help him.

Luke is a sweet, loving boy. Despite the pain from his leg, he gets along on his other 3 legs, balancing like a "tripod." When his foster mom gets home, he can't wait to greet her, nuzzling his head in her lap, with his tail wagging. He feels safe and happy in the warmth and comfort of a foster home where he is being cared for, loved, and getting tasty bowls of food, things he has never had in his life. It is sad to think how this sweet boy had to scrounge for food and suffer with these injuries on his own before he was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to a county shelter. But he doesn't have to suffer alone anymore. You can help Luke and animals like him with your generous donation.
