54: Something to Give — The Road Back to Selma
54: Something to Give originates from a profound yet simple belief:
No matter how little you possess, you always have something to offer.
This principle lies at the core of THE GIVE TEAM, at the heart of New Image Youth Center, and it fuels the spirit of this campaign.
This fundraiser centers around the premiere of 54: Something to Give, a documentary that chronicles THE GIVE TEAM’s transformative journey from Selma to Montgomery alongside the youth of Orlando’s Parramore community. They walked an incredible 54 miles, tracing the footsteps of civil rights legends. They bore the weight of responsibility. They confronted pain, fatigue, self-doubt, and discomfort. Through these experiences, they unearthed a powerful lesson that can only be understood through shared hardship:
We are more resilient than we realize. Furthermore, we hold the responsibility to fortify our communities.
The documentary transcends mere historical retracing; it compels us to grasp the essence of that history. It immerses us in the narratives of individuals who courageously endured the struggle, allowing us to hear stories of bravery and sacrifice. We learn that genuine appreciation for our progress necessitates an understanding of the tribulations faced by those who paved the way for us.
Yet, the story does not conclude with the film.
This campaign is a call to action for what lies ahead.
We are utilizing the premiere of 54: Something to Give to unite our team, our supporters, and the broader community around a mission: to cultivate stronger youth, foster resilient families, and build a more vibrant community.
To achieve this vision, we urgently seek to fund a Transportation Fund for New Image Youth Center and THE GIVE TEAM. Our immediate goal is to purchase a much-needed new van that will enable us to safely transport youth to programs, workouts, service opportunities, community events, and transformative experiences.
For organizations like ours, transportation represents more than a logistics challenge. It signifies access and opportunity. It could be the deciding factor that allows a young person to participate rather than be left behind. A van is not merely a mode of transportation; it serves as a connection point.
A connection to mentorship.
A connection to movement.
A
connection to service.
A connection to experiences that can
profoundly alter a young person's self-perception and future aspirations.
Additionally, we are raising funds to facilitate THE GIVE TEAM’s return to Selma in 2027, where we will embark once more on the daunting 54-mile trek from Selma to Montgomery. This journey is formidable — and it is meant to be. No one ever gained strength by choosing the path of least resistance.
This holds true physically.
It resonates within our culture.
And it applies to our community as a whole.
As our youth embrace discomfort, they cultivate resilience. Through acts of service, they develop leadership skills. When they traverse this path together—sharing in suffering, laughter, and triumph—they come to understand that strength is not merely spoken of; it is actively constructed.
54: Something to Give encapsulates that profound truth, and this campaign strives to extend it into the future.
Your contribution empowers us to continue advancing — both in our mission and literally moving forward. It assists New Image Youth Center and THE GIVE TEAM in creating avenues for the youth of Parramore to grow stronger, serve others, and envision the extraordinary potential that arises when we choose courage in place of comfort.
We also urge our community to support the documentary by purchasing tickets, attending the premiere, sharing the narrative, and amplifying our message.
Because this transcends a single film.
It evolves into a movement.
And it serves as a powerful reminder that the responsibility for cultivating a stronger community rests with all of us.
Some can provide financial support.
Some may give their
time.
Some contribute their effort.
Others offer
encouragement, a ride, a connection, a prayer, a smile, a warm
embrace, or a helping hand when someone feels weary.
As long as we draw breath, we eternally possess something to give.
Today, we invite you to contribute to the journey that lies ahead.
Help us fund the van. Assist us in supporting the youth. Enable our return to Selma. Aid us in sharing 54: Something to Give with the world.
Together, we can keep moving forward.
Together, we can accomplish challenging tasks.
Together, we can forge a stronger community.

54: Something to Give tells the story of THE GIVE TEAM’s journey from Selma to Montgomery as youth from Orlando’s Parramore community walk in the footsteps of civil rights heroes. But this is more than a story about retracing history. Along the way, they meet people who lived it, hear stories of courage and sacrifice, and learn that only by understanding the struggles others endured can we truly appreciate how far we’ve come and how much more is possible.
As the miles add up, the challenge becomes more than physical. It’s a test of character, resilience, and belief. Nobody ever got stronger doing easy things. That’s true physically, and it’s true culturally. Through shared hardship, the team discovers strengths they didn’t know they possessed, forms bonds that can only be built through struggle, and learns that meaningful change begins when ordinary people choose to do hard things together.
Most of all, 54: Something to Give is a story about community, service, and the belief that no matter how little you have, you always have something to give.
