Greg Murphy for Select Board: Dedicated to the Town We Love.
Proven Dedication and Leadership
Greg has a long-standing commitment to public service. He previously served on Pembroke’s Finance Committee and currently serves as a member of several Canton committees, including Capital Planning, Economic Development, and the Sustainability & Climate Action Plan Committee. He also serves as the Capital Planning Committee’s representative to the Building Renovation Committee and regularly attends the Select Board and Town Meetings.
An information technology and service management professional with a career spanning nearly four decades, Greg has a built a strong reputation for developing and adhering to documented processes, Greg has strongly advocated for governance and accountability, including supporting an independent audit of the Canton Police Department. Greg also contributed to defining an effective strategy to select the town’s next police chief.
An Engaged Neighbor
Greg is a 25-year resident of Canton, where he and his wife raised their two daughters. With a deep local commitment to the community, he spent many years coaching Canton Youth Soccer and serving as the league registrar.
At their annual Independence Day celebrations, Greg and his family don't just celebrate the country, but they make it a point to advocate for important causes such as LGBTQIA+ rights, freeing of Ukraine, and the importance of rescuing animals via pet adoption.
The Professional Advantage
Professionally, Greg has worked across financial institutions, higher education, and state government, experience that would help the Select Board when partnering with the Commonwealth. Since 2019, he has served as a Service Delivery Consultant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has also consulted for the South Carolina Department of Health & Human Services. His work at the state level provides a unique perspective on how Canton can effectively navigate state processes to secure funding and support for local infrastructure.
With a lifetime of experience serving customers, managing challenges, teams, and projects, and applying service management techniques and metrics, his strong data analysis, planning, and customer service experience would be a valuable addition to the Select Board. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Bentley University and an MBA, summa cum laude, from Northeastern University.
A Positive Vision for Canton
Greg's vision for Canton is built on a strategic framework he has built and refined over many years. Applying it to Canton will synchronizes our town’s infrastructure, finances, and long-term planning. He is committed to moving Canton toward a more integrated future: responsibly managing economic growth through proactive zoning, modernizing our municipal infrastructure through lifecycle management, and advancing equitable climate strategies that protect our environment and our taxpayers alike.
