Give to Build, Give to Resist
At the Mutual Aid Wildlife Rehabilitation (MAWR) Center, we know that the fight for ecological well-being is inseparable from the fight for human dignity, freedom, and equity. Every day, we see the threads that connect the harm done to wildlife and ecosystems with the harm inflicted on marginalized communities. Whether it’s the ongoing struggles against genocide and extraction, the fight against anti-trans legislation that seeks to deny science and nature, or resisting the destructive forces of racialized capitalism and colonialism, our mission is part of a much larger tapestry of resistance and renewal.
November 2023 was the beginning of a year of challenges and
triumphs. A dishonest contractor delayed our progress, setting us back
over a year. But thanks to our community’s resilience, our building is
now complete, standing as a testament to what we can achieve when we
unite against obstacles. In 2024 we ran several workshops on native
planting for pollinators, joined forces with Camp Fruit Fly, a summer
camp for queer and TGNC youth, collaborated with the Muller Field
Station to hold the Finger Lakes’ first Black Birder’s Week event and
participated in several moving community discussions about the short film, made
by community partner Food For the Spirit, about our work.
Build something extraordinary with us. Become a Donor
today—become part of the heartbeat of a movement creating meaningful
change for wildlife and humans together.
By becoming a monthly donor, your steady support means more than
just dollars—it’s a promise to the hatchling turtles heading to water
for the first time, the child discovering the magic of native plants,
and the future where rural communities lead the charge for ecological
justice.
Prefer a one-time donation? That’s vital, too. Every
kind act of generosity makes a difference. Whether you bring us fresh
produce to feed orphaned wildlife, tools to expand our facilities, or
a one-time donation to cover an animal’s medical costs, we are deeply
grateful for your partnership in this work.
When you support MAWR, you’re not just helping injured
wildlife—you’re joining a movement to reimagine the story of what
conservation looks like.
