Spreading the News of Queer Affirmation
A growing number of Christians believe God calls them to affirm LGBTQ+ people. Many of these Christians are part of conservative and evangelical institutions. In recent days, pastors, laity, and other leaders are being silenced or defrocked for their beliefs about queer matters.
One group -- Loving Nazarenes -- calls the Church of the Nazarene to replace it's statement on human sexuality with an affirming one. Other Christians are issuing similar calls.
Oord On Trial
Thomas Jay Oord, a prominent theologian whose works are well known both inside and outside the Church of the Nazarene, has been called to trial for being queer affirming. Oord advocates boldly for change, and his courage has drawn the ire of conservative voices.
Oord has been officially charged with teaching and promoting doctrines contrary to the denomination. An official trial date is being negotiated for the summer of 2024.
To highlight the need for change and show solidarity with queer people and their allies, we seek to publicize what's happening to Oord and many others. This work includes hiring publicists and professional media to share the news with larger audiences. It involves paying for videographers and media experts. Some funds will cover publishing and administration costs.
We need your financial help!
To cover the fees needed to share this story widely, we ask for your contribution. Join us today and be a catalyst for change. Together, we can encourage LGBTQ+ people, embolden their allies, and create change for our children.
The money raised will pay for media consultants, video costs, publishing costs, and related work. This money does not go directly into Oord's pockets.
Please help us share the news of queer affirmation.
