We've selected nine must-read books by Canadian authors. Each of them have generously offered to sign copies of their books for donors to this campaign!
Where do these donations go?
The funds from this campaign will directly support our coast-to-coast efforts to reclaim city halls across Canada. Costs include printing, mailing, design, outreach, marketing, and project management.
There are 3,573 municipalities in Canada, so we have a LOT of work to do. We need to build grassroots teams in every province and territory, and then support them as much as possible. Every dollar you contribute moves us closer towards real change.
What is "Local Choice"?
Municipal elections in Canada are tightly regulated by provincial governments. Those rules are often strict and narrow, which prevents any municipality from innovating and improving their local democracy. Local Choice means that the provincial rules are amended to give city councils more tools and more flexibility. It allows them to switch to ranked ballots or even proportional representation. There is no "one size fits all" voting system. Each municipality needs to figure out what works best for them!
So far, we only have one example of Canadian city that ditched First-Past-the-Post. And the results were amazing! This is exactly what we want to replicate - all across Canada. We want to bring this campaign right to YOUR door.

We've recently launched an exciting monthly speakers series featuring some of Canada's most inspiring, disruptive and effective leaders. These are people who are challenging our democratic traditions,and pushing for reform, as authors, as community leaders, and as elected representatives.
The Backstage Pass gives you special access to these events, for a few minutes before we go live, and afterwards as well! You can ask some questions, or share your own ideas.
