World Market was started over 26 years ago by a group of committed
volunteers who were determined to bring fair trade to Durham.
Today, we share the stories of artisans and connect caring
customers to handmade gifts that change the world. These
empowering products provide fair wage jobs, safe working
conditions, and life-saving resources for
disadvantaged workers in over 70 developing
countries.
We're a different kind of store...
Our store is unique and changes the world
each and every day. We want to be able to tell that unique story
with a unique name. A name that sets us apart as the
only fair trade, nonprofit store in Durham. A
name that entices curious customers who want to make a difference,
where shoppers will know right away that this is a place where their
purchases will have big impact.

Why Bull City Fair Trade?
The name says it all. We're based in Durham, otherwise known as the "Bull City," and we're a fair trade, nonprofit store! No more confusion with the franchise World Market. No more guessing about what's inside.
Your support makes this community of hope possible...
To make this change and to continue creating a world of opportunity, we need your help. The truth is that a name change requires new everything - awnings, signs, website, business cards....we could go on and on. But we won't. We know you love this store and want to see it thrive. We know we can count on your financial support to help us write this exciting new chapter for artisans across the globe and for the Bull City.

Our artisan partners handmade a few
fair trade treasures to help us express appreciation for your
support (listed at right). Depending on your level of giving,
please feel free to choose a perk (or combine perks to donate even
more). These giving levels represent the minimum required to
receive each perk, but after selecting a perk you will have the
option to contribute an additional amount above the minimum to
make your donation go further.
Or, you can skip the reward and
allocate 100% of your support to fund the future
of fair trade in Durham.
