UFV Campus and Community Radio Society hasn't added a story.
CIVL 101.7 FM is the campus-based community radio station at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford. As a non-profit organization, our mission is to provide training and access to the airwaves for volunteers and community members and to support and promote the arts in our community!
The Fraser Valley Music Awards is a project supported in its first year by a Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) grant, which has provided funding for staff, promotion, and event-related costs of the production of the first year of this event. Open to musicians across any genre and of any age, FVMA aims to provide promotion, networking opportunities, skill-building workshops, and industry/financial prizes to as many different musicians as possible!
Our Fundraising Objectives:
- To fund more amazing benefits for FVMA Winners & Nominees
- To fund this year's FVMA production costs
- To fund next year's FVMA production costs and begin to create a sustainable long-term event
-
To give FVMA ticket buyers the opportunity to not simply
purchase tickets but also (a) be on the ground floor of a
special community event and (b) benefit from bonus prizes such
as they wonderful incentive packages you can read about in this campaign!
In our first year of the Fraser Valley Music Awards, 109 artists are involved, representing over 300 unique Fraser Valley musicians who have applied to receive over a dozen artist benefit packages, spread out among our 12 categories, provided by our 22 wonderful sponsors! 57 nominees are eligible this year to receive awards. The full list of categories and nominees available at http://www.civl.ca/fvma
The CRFC grant only covers eligible expenses for the first year of this project. We are asking for your help to ensure that we can put as much or more funding into promoting and supporting these local artists in 2017 as we have this year!
CIVL received $42,500 to support staffing costs for this project, and $7,500 on events production costs for this years' awards themselves. CIVL also dedicated $3,500 of its promotions budget to production of the FVMA Local Music Compilation. Next year, we'd like to put as much money as possible into the production of this event, and have current CIVL staff absorb most of the administrative responsibilities. In year two we expect to attract even more sponsors with even more valuable prizes, and your contributions will help us pay for more value going into those prizes!
