A Dog4U alumna, Daisy, is raising funds by having her mom run in the Boston Athletic Association’s 5k. Daisy was just an hour away from being euthanized at a high kill shelter in North Carolina when a Dog4U foster intervened. Daisy was treated for heartworm disease, brought up to a healthy weight, and was sent north for adoption to our no kill partner shelter in the Northeast. Many runners, of both the Boston Marathon and the 5k, choose to run for charity. In 2014, they raised over $13 million for charities. This year Dog4U will be represented for the first time. We are hoping to raise $1200 to put towards our mission of saving animals at high risk of euthanasia and finding them forever homes. Our Mission Statement: To care for, and facilitate the placement of stray, homeless, and unwanted dogs, cats and other animal as pets in suitable homes. To provide shelter and sanctuary for unwanted and abandoned animals, to aid in the prevention of cruelty to animals and to promote humane treatment. The funds raised for this run will go towards pulling fees, medical expenses, feeding and care of the animals, along with other needs to keep the animals safe and healthy.
