"The Last Matai"

The Last Matai is an independent feature length Documentary film project two years in the making. Shot entirely on HD 1080p, the film is an emotional, heartwarming journey of two beautiful and talented sisters in search of their maternal family's ancestry, and the true origins of the indigenous culture in the remote villages on the Islands of Samoa. A groundbreaking, immersive portrait of 3rd generation American born Pacific Islanders, and their need to re-connect to their family's royal yet humble beginnings. Cameras follow the sisters during their first visit to Samoa shortly after the passing of their beloved grandmother, Pastor Masaniai Tunufa'i Leiato Tuiasosopo. From a bird's-eye view, THE LAST MATAI is unlike most documentaries of the area you have ever seen; a purely visceral, cinematic experience. Join them in their journey to uncover unknown villages, ancient lost civilizations, and learn a language that is near extinct.

The Last Matai will be available for festival screenings, online downloads, iTunes, DVD, and multiple distribution outlets. Partial funding has been provided by Nation19 Magazine, a Subsidiary of Mobile Regime, LLC.
