Our Story:

 After the fall of the Islamic Republic Government of Afghanistan, the country fell into chaos and anarchy. Over a year later, people are struggling with a Humanitarian crisis. There are more and more restrictions. Soon after they gained control, the Taliban closed girls’ schools without any notification of a planned reopening date. In the new academic year in Afghanistan, girls of grades 7 and above were not allowed to enter school and went back home with a tear in their eyes. In a recent decree, the Taliban banned universities for girls and women, and the defacto government's ministry of higher education has announced that as of 20 Dec 2022, female students, employees, and educators of both private and public universities are not allowed to enter the universities and so for other educational institutions. These restrictions will affect education destructively not only in the short term but for many years to come. Girls in Afghanistan are left at home without any hope for their future.

In response to this situation, a group of people with a shared passion, some in Afghanistan and some abroad decided to start a volunteer initiative and register Education Bridge for Afghanistan (EBA) as a not-for-profit company in the UK. To effectively implement the initiative, we got into a cooperation agreement with Migranten Omid Verein e.V., which is also a not-for-profit Afghan diaspora association in Germany. The team worked hard to design a responsive online school where students can study easily. The online school is now running, with more than 400 secondary-level students registered and sitting for classes. There is currently a waiting list because of a lack of resources and funds to pay teachers’ salaries. As a result of the Taliban's new decree banning higher education for girls, we are experiencing a very large demand for our vocational training, but we are through financial difficulty and are very less in funds. By donating a small amount of €10 or more to this fundraiser, you can provide resources to give a child hope for the future and rescue Afghan girls' from being left uneducated.
