Help get Team Lesotho to the African Continental Mountain Bike Championships in Windhoek, Namibia.
The biggest race of the year – the African Championships are just a 3000km round trip away from Lesotho by road, but without funding it is an impossible dream. This is what the riders have been working towards for the past 2 years.
Despite being one of the smallest countries on the continent, thanks to its rugged mountain terrain, Lesotho is ranked 3rd in Africa in the mountain bike discipline. However, cycling is not considered a priority sport when it comes to government funding, and after COVID-19 sponsorship from local businesses is far more difficult to secure.
Every $100 raised will take the team 100km closer to Namibia.
The competition will take place in Windhoek, Namibia from 22-23 April 2022. Team Lesotho will be represented by Tumelo Makae and Olympian Phetetso Monese in the Elite Men’s race, and Eric Ramohanoe in the under 23 event.

COVID-19 has been a big hit on the economy of the country, and it has also hit our riders financially. Without any races, the lack of prizes or allowances has made it very difficult to put food on the table for themselves and their families. However, through being part of the team, our riders have learned to be resilient and resourceful. Rather than sitting down looking for handouts, they have been involved in small-scale income generating projects to keep themselves going.
Through this fundraiser, we aim to boost the capital of already existing projects with cash injections, so they can increase stock and ease the strain a little. Every $50 raised will make a huge difference.
