The Tashi Geygye Thaten Ling Monastery is located in west Nepal in the village of Dhorpatan. It is one of the first Yungdrung Bon monastery to be constructed in the 1960's after the chinese invasion in Tibet; and began first as a Tibetan Refugee camp which was established by the Red Cross.

The monastery is in need of repairing and replacing a good portion of the floors and also some main columns. Building materials such as wood, cement , steel are among the basics needed. Once the materials are purchased in Kathmandu, it takes 24 hrs to be hauled to Burtibang. From Burtibang it is taken by horse and by foot to Dhorpatan which is another 2 days of uphill terrain. Transportation costs is therefore also a considerable part of this funding.

SHORT HISTORY

Shortly after the Red Cross established camp, the Bon Spiritual Leader, 32nd  Abbot, Kundun Sherap Lodro travelled to Dhorpatan and began the construction of this monastery.  It was later taken over  by Tsultrim Nyima, the father of Khenpo Tempa Yungdrung Rinpoche current abbot of Triten Norbutse Monastery.   After Tsultrim Nyima's  early death, Sonam Gyaltsen managed the monastery and after his death, Khenpo Ratsa Tenzin Dargye was appointed Abbot where he still serves in that position.

The monastery maintains a clinic on its grounds where it provides medical services to the community.  The community is made up of farmers whose main crop is potatoes and apples to a lesser degree.

TG Bon Teaching Foundation is a 501c registered non-profit organization.

For questions, you may contact Khenpo Ratsa at (917) 655-3075 or Patricia Phang Sang Chase at 954 961-4944.
