Ride To Give hasn't added a story.
Kendyl (10) and Sydney (9) are sisters who are Type 1 Diabetics. To prevent dangerous high/low blood sugars their family has been raising money to get Diabetic Alert Dogs (D.A.D.s). Being diabetic, both girls have to follow a strict diet, prick their fingers 6-8 times a day and wear an insulin pump. Unfortunately, there is no cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Night time is a constant worry with them. While sleeping they aren't aware and can't feel if their sugars are high or low. If their sugars go too low it can cause them to go into seizures or a diabetic coma. That's why having these dogs are so necessary. The dogs are highly trained specifically for each girl and will alert if their sugars start to go too high or too low. They have raised enough money to bring home their first D.A.D., Mack for Kendyl (photo above on left), and are a $4080 away from being able to bring home the second dog (Ellie May, photo above on right) so that both girls never have to be without their protector.
They have been fundraising for a year and since each dog is $18,000, they have come a long way. But donations have stalled, so here's where the Ride to Give steps in!
Please follow them on Facebook and help us get Ellie May home for Sydney!
