When B.J. Bohne assumed the leadership of Imperial Crane Services, he wanted to carry on his father’s legacy of generosity. Every year, the company would send under-privileged kids to summer camps, donate to churches, support orphans and help raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for medical research. But it was while he worked on his company biography that B.J. decided to take it a step further. He launched the Bohne Foundation, a charity committed to bringing hope to the hopeless around the world.

After visiting the African nation of Uganda, we returned home determined to do something to help change lives in that country and beyond. Immediately, funds were raised to support Akiba, a home dedicated to caring for children with cancer. We also shipped over 300Ibs. of books and critical supplies to Grace Community School in Iganga. But that was not enough. We just finished work on our first water-well that will serve hundreds of families in Sekiwunga village.

Back here in the USA, the Bohne Foundation has raised support for the "Walk With Andrew" benefit. This is a young man who had a spinal injury in a tragic accident. In addition, we have sponsored CYPAA, an annual celebration of sobriety among young people in Alcoholics Anonymous.

Our latest campaign is one close to our hearts. Over 5,000 Americans have been killed by gun violence in our city of Chicago since 2001, making it more dangerous than Baghdad. The Bohne Foundation has responded by sponsoring the Peace League Anti-Violence Program, one of the few really effective anti-gun violence campaigns in Chicago.

We continue to be actively involved in charity work from as far away as Sub-Saharan Africa, to local communities right here in the USA. Whether it’s drilling a water well, funding cancer research, helping addicts work through recovery, assisting troubled kids, or helping curb gun violence, we are determined to make a difference!
