The world is undergoing one of the most important transitions in modern history: addressing climate change while transitioning global energy systems away from fossil fuel dependence toward cleaner, more sustainable alternatives.
Although scientific consensus and technological solutions continue to advance, there remains a critical gap between knowledge, implementation, and public understanding.
Many communities and even industry stakeholders lack accessible, practical pathways to understand and participate in this transition.
At the same time, professionals and organizations in the energy and related industrial sectors often face uncertainty about how to communicate this change and implement sustainable solutions at scale. This gap slows progress at exactly the moment when acceleration is needed most.
As a result, even when solutions exist, their adoption is often slow, fragmented, or uneven across industries and societies.
Why This Consortium Exists
Across universities, research institutions, and industry sectors, there is growing pressure on those working in climate and energy-related fields. Public and institutional funding for research and applied outreach is becoming increasingly constrained in some regions. Universities face budget limitations, and many applied climate communication and transition-focused initiatives struggle to secure sustained support.
At the same time, professionals and scholars working in this space often carry a dual burden: advancing technical knowledge while also attempting to translate that knowledge into public understanding and real-world application. This is frequently without dedicated resources to do so. In certain contexts, this work is also becoming more sensitive or politically contested and even dangerous, as more scholars working on these issues report targeted attacks and smear campaigns. This has further limited open communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustained engagement on these issues.
This is precisely at the moment when collaborative action is most needed.
What We Do In A Nutshell
The Consortium brings together researchers, practitioners, and professionals working across climate, sustainability, and energy systems to support three core areas:
- Public Awareness & Communication: We translate complex sustainability, climate, and energy issues into accessible, practical knowledge that helps communities, professionals, and decision-makers better understand the transition underway.
- Industry & Practitioner Engagement: We facilitate dialogue between experts and industry stakeholders to explore realistic, actionable pathways for transitioning toward cleaner energy systems and more sustainable practices.
- Applied Research & Collaboration: We support interdisciplinary collaboration aimed at identifying barriers, sharing knowledge, and developing practical frameworks that can inform real-world implementation.

Why This Work Matters
The climate and energy transition is as much of a coordination and communication challenge as it is technological. Despite the availability of research and viable solutions:
- Public understanding often lags behind scientific knowledge
- Industry transition pathways are not always clearly communicated or accessible
- Applied research and outreach efforts remain underfunded
- Experts working in this space often lack structured support for sustained collaboration and public engagement
Without effective bridges between knowledge and implementation, progress slows. This is even when solutions already exist. We believe that the missing piece, therefore, is sustained engagement across sectors.
Why We Need Support
The Climate & Energy Consortium currently operates without institutional or public funding. Our work is supported through voluntary collaboration and limited independent resources.
Funding is needed to sustain and expand:
- Coordination of expert contributors and working groups
- Development of public education and outreach materials
- Cross-sector engagement between researchers, practitioners, and industry
- Tools and platforms for knowledge sharing and collaboration
- Core operational support to maintain continuity of ongoing initiatives
This support allows the Consortium to remain active, independent, and focused on practical impact rather than constrained by resource limitations.
What Your Support Enables
Your contribution directly supports work that helps:
- Improve public understanding of climate and energy systems
- Strengthen practical pathways for energy transition across sectors
- Enable collaboration between experts, practitioners, and industries
- Sustain independent, applied climate communication and engagement efforts
- Keep knowledge translation efforts active and accessible
Even modest contributions help sustain expert time, coordination, and outreach capacity.
Transparency & Accountability
All funds raised will be managed through the Consortium’s coordinating lead and allocated strictly toward:
- Project coordination and delivery
- Educational and outreach activities
- Collaboration infrastructure and tools
- Operational continuity for ongoing initiatives
Regular updates will be provided to donors, including progress reports, project milestones, and summaries of how resources are being applied.
How Funds Will Be Used
To ensure transparency and accountability, all funds raised will be allocated directly to the Consortium’s core operational and program activities:
1. Research Translation & Content Development 30%
Supports the conversion of technical climate and energy research into accessible public-facing materials, including reports, explainers, and practitioner guides.
2. Expert Engagement & Coordination 25%
Supports time contributions from researchers, practitioners, and industry advisors involved in consortium working groups, consultations, and collaborative development sessions.
3. Public Awareness & Outreach Activities 20%
Covers dissemination efforts, educational initiatives, and communication campaigns aimed at improving public and stakeholder understanding of climate and energy transition issues.
4. Collaboration Infrastructure 15%
Supports tools, platforms, and systems used for coordination across researchers, practitioners, and industry stakeholders.
5. Operational Continuity 10%
Covers basic administrative and operational costs required to maintain ongoing consortium activities and ensure continuity of work.
We Are Also Open To Corporate Sponsorship
Corporate sponsorship plays an important role in enabling the work of the Climate & Energy Consortium. As we work to bridge the gap between climate and energy research, industry practice, and public understanding, we rely on partners who recognize that meaningful progress requires cross-sector collaboration. Sponsorship support would directly strengthen our ability to develop and share accessible climate and energy insights, facilitate engagement between researchers and practitioners, and support practical frameworks that help organizations navigate the shift toward more sustainable energy systems. In return, sponsors are aligned with an initiative focused on real-world implementation challenges and benefit directly or indirectly from our efforts.
In closing, the transition to a sustainable future depends not only on innovation, but on the connections between research and practice, between institutions and the public, and between knowledge and implementation. The Climate & Energy Consortium was formed to help address this gap. We invite you to be part of building that bridge toward a more sustainable future for people and the planet; today and for generations to come.
