We are focused on young people who don’t have the possibility to get an education and study. Also:

• Underserved and vulnerable communities in economically challenged areas. Every day these communities face the challenges of inequality, injustice, disproportionality, and lack of opportunities;
• Juniors who often cannot apply their knowledge in practice;
• A lot of people in underserved communities don’t have access to hardware and software;
• People can’t get a job without working experience.

The solution from Open Build.

Open Build has special programs for those who have no experience in Software development and want to start it. 

We help underrepresented developers to work with senior developers to learn new technologies and skills and also level up existing skills.

With Open Build they have the possibility to learn development from the very beginning or level up their skills depending on experience. Also here they have the possibility to get training and on-the-job work supervised and mentored by senior developers.  They learn new cutting-edge technologies and processes so they feel more confident in their careers and they can see and feel that they have support from members of our team who provide them help any time they are struggling.  

We don't see barriers to better outcomes. We have had successful projects in Kenya and are currently seeing success in Colombia while we start work in Ukraine.  Today we are looking for funding to be able to support more people with the possibility to get an education, work in a competitive internship and start new businesses of their own or accept jobs in a new career.

Hugo Cortes from Colombia 

I'm Hugo Cortes from Medellin, Colombia and I'm training at Open Build as a Junior Developer. Since the first half of 2022, I'm taking part in Open Build's program, which has been a very good opportunity for my professional growth, in terms of technical knowledge and soft skills. In the technical part, they have given me an open and safe treatment to ask questions, clear up doubts, and learn from each process that is needed, also to strengthen the knowledge that I already had. In soft skills, I have reinforced attitudes of empathy, collaboration, and respect, in addition, to language, since the work is mainly spoken in English. So both in my free spaces and in the process I face the language barrier and improve my ability to speak more than one language. Another interesting aspect of the company is being able to work with people from different cultures, from Kenya to Ukraine.
