YOUR DONATION WILL HELP BUILD A 1/10TH SCALE MODEL OF
NEVADA-CALIFORNIA-OREGON RAILWAY LOCOMOTIVE NO. 10
The Nevada-California-Oregon Railway is proud to announce that it has agreed to the construction of a brand new replica of locomotive No. 10. Fully one-tenth the size of the original locomotive built in 1910 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works, it will be constructed from the exact drawings and specification sheets which produced the original number 10. As depicted in the image above, the final build will appear as No. 10 did when delivered to Reno, NV, in 1910. The model will be created using the original color scheme of N-C-O locomotives, olive green, and aluminum.
Master craftsman Jack Erhart will use 3D printing to build the locomotive for our society. He will then paint and letter the model with historical accuracy. Jack resides in Paso Robles, CA, and donates his time to projects such as this, charging only for the materials used. He is ready to begin our project early in 2025 and estimates that construction will take about two years.
It is Mr. Erhart’s practice to request a reference drawing of his current project locomotive from eminent railroad artist David Fletcher. The drawing of locomotive 10 has been requested and has now been completed. Mr. Fletcher has graciously agreed to allow prints to be offered as a THANK YOU gift for your contribution.
A limited run of 50 prints has been created and numbered for this fundraiser. Each print measures 18"x24" and will be rolled and shipped to you for your donation of $100. All other donations to our fundraiser will receive a postcard in the mail as a THANK YOU!

A BRIEF HISTORY OF LOCOMOTIVE NO. 10
Number 10 was constructed in April 1910 by Baldwin Locomotive Works, which assigned it construction number 34580 (according to Tom Armstrong and PacificNG.org) or 34528 (per Curtiss Johnson’s The Pacific Coast Railway and Diebert & Strapac’s Steam Locomotive Compendium). It is nearly identical to locomotive 9 (Baldwin #34035), which ultimately became the still-existing Southern Pacific 9. Both engines were built to Baldwin’s classification 10-26D, thus sharing a 16x20 cylinder diameter and stroke, 180 pounds of boiler pressure, 44-inch drivers, and a total weight of 88,000 pounds.
Our number 10 was sold in April 1928 to United Commercial Company, who then re-sold it to the Pacific Coast Railway of San Luis Obispo in May. Her last service was on August 23, 1941, hauling three carloads of fish to the SP standard gauge interchange when diesel number 120 failed to start. When Pacific Coast could find no buyer for her after the line closed, she was scrapped in 1948.
N-C-O Railway locomotives no. 10 and 11 are
loaded on flatcars and ready to ship out to the Pacific Coast Railway.
