Did you know that Doulas are not covered by our health care system?

A Doula provides continuous, informational, emotional, and physical support to birth givers during a transformative time in their lives. As a result of having Doula support, birth givers are more likely to have positive experiences and see lower rates of medical intervention, cesareans and trauma.

The Nesting Doula Collective is a grassroots, Island-based collective of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC) who are committed to offering culturally affirming, anti-oppressive, and empowering support to culturally diverse communities throughout pregnancy and birth. We do this pro-bono and on a sliding scale because money should not be an additional barrier for racialized people to access the pregnancy and birth support they need.

It takes a village to make this possible! This winter we are raising funds to support 25 BIPOC births in 2021.

If you believe that everyone should have the care, support, and advocacy they need during one of life’s most transformative moments, make a contribution today!
