Because of EMERGENCY we needed qualified, one on one experienced Aussie trainer. This is serious & so important because BENJI is a new dog now! But we had to ensure HIS BEST CARE quickly. Please read on.
Though out most significant, important love, prayers, good thoughts and of course belief that there WILL be a Happy “New Beginning” for this terrific human adopter - our cause greatly concerns the dog he adopted; a dog who we ADORE but who required a Very Special and Committed owner. (for now we are only revealing the dog in the photos; when we know more of course we will update!)
BENJI came to DASH 3 months ago - rescued from Corsicana where he had been turned in because his owner was moving away. Benji loved every human and dog he met, and we loved having him foster in our home, however as Aussie and Aussie mixes do, he started to become overprotective of each human - almost always due to INSECURITY along with anxiety from so many changes.
We knew he needed a VERY COMMITTED and “Alpha” owner but one with a loving and kind spirit. Compassion and Patience were the keys and when applied it was such a perfect match it seemed too good to be true.
WELL - IT WAS PERFECT - we were thrilled, Benji took to INSTANTLY! Better still worked from home AND knew the exact type of training Benji needed to continue becoming a secure, healthy, happy beloved pet - and BF for life.
Then the unthinkable happened - reached out to all of us with devastating news. Though he had been in remission from brain cancer 3 years he had just been to the Emergency Room and learned a mass “the size of a ping-pong ball” had returned. To further complicate matters, is originally from a country in Europe and that’s where his oncologist is as well as his entire family.
We are working with someone we have known for over a decade. In fact David who is now fostering and training adopted one of the only dogs in DASH HISTORY that I personally was terrified of and was advised to put down. David got to us, and the dog, just in time - and was only a novice back in those days but nonetheless adopted “Jeremyah” who became so well-trained I babysat for him a few times over the years! Myah and my 12 year old Aussie both passed away this year - I believe they helped reconnect David & I so when the time came, NOW, another young, beautiful dog life can be loved, fostered, trained and saved.
As of today, 7/26 we know Benji’s owner will be home at least 6 weeks. He has barely been home 3 days and is in the hospital and pain, exhaustion most of the time - BUT - he got on the stick just in time and we all are praying daily he will get great news in 6 weeks and be right back here with Benji.
In the meantime we have to put Benji’s best interests first, and David, who has now had a successful training, dogsitting and other dogcentric career that’s made him a “well kept secret” professional. He is giving us a tremendous rate for all Benji’s care which we are working on 3 weeks at a time.
PLEASE PLEASE - DONATE AND SHARE - despite ALL our own issues, illnesses and other factors of life BENJI DESERVES TO WAIT FOR HIS BELOVED TO RETURN. Help us make this happen because no matter what Benji’s care is in our hands now and his future, no matter what we WANT HOPE EXPECT and even DEMAND for , must continue to be an obedient, well-trained secure dog for the man who saved his life.
