We are the Interfaith Committee for Social Services. At this time our work centers around provided Hot Showers for the Homeless in Delray Beach, FL as well as providing them with new, clean underwear and Hygiene kits. We also give the Homeless Community a place to receive mail as well as helping them to secure identity documents and get them directed to free medical care when needed. We are totally funded by contributions from individuals, churches and synagogues in the immediate area.
The Homeless population is able to come to the Shower Trailer and get a hot shower one day per week when they visit the Food Kitchen for lunch. This helps them to improve their lives as well as their appearance and their ability to be presentable for Job interviews.
The money we raise goes only to the maintenance and supplies of the Shower Truck, Mailbox and one paid person who helps with the operations of the truck. No one in the Interfaith Committee receives any funds for anything other that for direct, out of pocket expenses such as laundry services for our clients clothing and towels.
It cost us about $600.00 per month to staff and supply the Shower Truck, provide mail service to the Homeless Community and routine insurance.
This is the only facility in the are where the Homeless can go for a hot, clean, private shower.
