This weekend we rescued 3 sheep, a llama, a goat and 6 adult rabbits and thir 14 babies from a location in Westchester County where they were receiving substandard care and minimal food. Several of their barnyard friends died over the winter, according to witness accounts. We were contacted by concerned citizens and we ultimately reached an agreement with the owner of these barnyard

This is no small undertaking, especially since the fence we have in place on our property is made for our horses and goats - not sheep or llamas - we need to add several slats to one of the enclosed areas in order for the sheep and llama to be able to roam freely. All animals will be cleared by our vet (and found free from communicable diseases and parasites) before they intermingle with the rest of our farm animals and as the llama and goat are a bonded pair (yes, that's right) - we will consider an adoptive home for them IF they can be adopted in a pair. As for the sheep, all 3 are badly matted and will be shorn as soon as possible - they are so matted that we do not know their sex yet. The llama and the goat are females.

We spayed the rabbits that were not with litters before placing them (along with the moms and litters) with Hop A Long Hollow Rabbit Rescue so they may find adopters. Please consider visiting their Facebook page or petfinder website and donating to their future care as well/or fostering a bunny: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CT210.html

We really need help with this very important fence project! Please donate today if you are able. In addition, the cost of vetting/feed/hay for the sheep, llama and goat will increase our monthly farm budget by about $500 the first month alone (in addition to the fence work!)

All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue.
