  1.   Our new mommy, Sunshine, adopted us because she knows that 5 year old dogs are NOT "too old." Plus, she knew it would be hard to find a home willing to take us both, and I really didn't want to have to live apart from my brother and littermate, BamBam. Just after adopting us, our mommy took us to the vet to have all our shots and annual exam. Except for being on the hefty side, BamBam and I were fine. Less than a month later, mommy noticed a little blood coming from BamBam's bum. She took him to our vet, and our vet removed a polyp. Luckily, the biopsy on that polyp showed a benign growth.  Ever since then, mommy has the vet always check BamBam for growths in his bum. Not long ago, while my brother was under surgery for a teeth cleaning, the vet did her usual bum exam, and noticed tissue that "did not look good." A biopsy confirmed that BamBam has an invasive adenocarcinoma in his rectum. According to the surgeon, it is the best rectal cancer diagnosis we could ask for. Unlike cancer of the anal glands, BamBam's diagnosis generally has a positive outlook with surgical removal of the growth. Mommy says the cost of surgery is estimated at $6,000, which will include a colonoscopy, as well as removal of the growth. BamBam will not need radiation or chemotherapy. After seeing mommy crying the other day, I decided to put my sneaky paws to the computer and try and raise some money for my brother, BamBam.  Please won't you help keep my brother alive so I can continue to harass him!! Many thanks, Pebbles the Boston Terrier
