By the grace of Allah,Rajeen Aljanah sisters group will be building a new masjid in Ethiopia (Rajeen 3)
at a site currently served only by a temporary open-air prayer area, where the community prays outdoors. The existing prayer space shown in the photos is still in use and will be removed once construction begins, to be replaced by a permanent masjid on the same land.
This location was carefully selected due to the large, low-income farming community, where approximately 95% of residents are Muslim and the nearest masjid is nearly 4 km away.
Once completed, the masjid will serve over 2,500 worshippers, hosting daily prayers, Qur’an memorization, and religious education for both children and adults. A local Mosque Care Committee will assume responsibility for the masjid’s upkeep after handover, ensuring long-term community ownership. In shā’ Allāh, future plans include building a Qur’an school adjacent to the masjid to further support faith-based learning for generations to come.
