A helpline for pregnant
women and new mothers in Greece
Since 2014, Fainareti’s Perinatal Mental Health Helpline, (+30) 2109319054, has been a crucial pillar of psychological and midwifery support for more than 20.000 (>85.000 calls) pregnant women and new parents across Greece, and even for Greeks worldwide.
The Helpline, which operates daily from 09.00 to 21.00 and is staffed by psychologists and midwives, often acts as a "lifeline," providing immediate support and guidance during some of the most challenging moments of pregnancy and early parenthood. Whether it's dealing with perinatal depression and anxiety, difficulties with breastfeeding and newborn care, emotional support due to perinatal loss, or urgent psychological situations and domestic violence during this sensitive period, the Helpline has been there for those in need.
The Helpline is available to all pregnant women and new mothers in Greece, ensuring that no one faces these challenges alone, even if they live in a remote village or on an island. From practical advice to psychological support, we have always been there for women and their families when they needed us most.
However, after ten years of service, the regular operation of the Helpline is at stake due to insufficient funding. Without immediate support, we risk losing this essential service, leaving hundreds of women and new families without the necessary help during such a vulnerable period.
