"MK Airbase has a lot of strays dog that roam around. Myself and other MPs(Military Police) formed strong bonds with these dogs. They make the longest days a little shorter and the darkest days shine a little brighter. While on patrol a MP found a litter of puppies. We took them into our make shift dog shelter and to keep them out of freezing weather, unfortunately 2 puppies didn’t make it. Each shift we would occasionally check in on them making sure they had food and water. When it was my shift and on “paw patrol” 2 of the puppies, Coca & Roman Jr (original Roman fell ill and passed away), I really grew close to. I’d like to end this deployment by taking them back with me."

"She is about 9 months old and we’re not quite sure what breed she is (most of the strays in MK are a mystery). What makes her so special is her story. Since the day she showed up at the AHA, i knew i wanted to bring her home. She was much more social and affectionate than the other strays that live there. One night i received a phone call that she was hit by a truck and she didn’t make it. They moved her body to the side of the road so it would not continue to get run over. Devastated by news, I tried to tell myself it was just God's will. A few days later i arrive at the AHA to see a little black figure in the grass. It was Sam!!! Some how, severely injured, she managed to drag herself back to where she felt safe. She was weak and struggled to walk or even keep her head up. One of her toes on her back paw was ripped off and the bone was exposed. After weeks of feeding her anything to regain her strength and lots of love, she is now back to running and playing! Her vet told us she believes she fractured her hip from the accident. You would never be able to tell from how outgoing and spirited she is. She is now a volunteer for the American Red Cross bringing joy to the soldiers on MKAB while they are away from their homes and i am her new mom."

"Everytime I would walk to our office this dog would always be nearby and when he heard people he would run up to them and give them lots of love. It wasn't long before I started falling in love with him and he deserves a better life than living on the streets. You would never know he was a stray dog with how affectionate he is with everyone. We have named him Plankton... I have grown to love him and I cant see my family without him."
