ONE: Maverick 2-3 yo Am staff x

Introducing you to our adorable Maverick - pictured above. Maverick was rescued from the pound some weeks ago with a painful eye infection, which was originally treated with the usual eye cream and antibiotic drops. The infection was treated, but there was still something bothering Mav. Here he is reluctant to open his eyes in the sunlight.
So when Maverick visited Noranda Vets for his sterilization, whilst he was under anaesthetic they had a closer look and found him to have a painful eye disorder called Entropion.

Entropion is commonly known as turned in eyelids, and when a dog suffers from this their eyelashes poke directly into the eye. This obviously causes the dog some severe irritation which is not only extremely painful, but can often result in persistent eye infections such as Mav had when he came into our care. It can also lead to permanent blindness.
HELP IS ON THE WAY
Fortunately for Maverick, only one of his 4 eyelids lids were affected. It is a cosmetic condition, but one that generally requires specialist treatment. So off we went and tried to get some help, and was quoted over $2,000.00 for the single eyelid surgery.
EXPENSIVE
So as we were deciding how best to help Maverick and how to raise so much extra money for him, our wonderful Vet Dr Martin Robley from Noranda Vet Clinic offered to do the surgery at less than half of what we had been quoted elsewhere.
So the surgery was booked and Mav has now been operated on successfully. A one centimetre flap of excess skin has been removed from beneath his eye, and stitched from the inside out to repair the condition.
RELIEF
Maverick is already showing signs of relief! Despite still having a few external stitches he is so much happier!
SO MANY ANIMALS
It is these sorts of extra expenses that we at Celebrity Pets Rescue Charitable Trust are asking for help with. The costs involved far over and above what are recouped by the adoption processes alone, which often doesn’t even cover the cost of sterilizing vaccinating and microchipping.

CASE TWO: Marilyn 1-2yo Burmese

Another recent example of emergency care was Marilyn the Burmese cross. And again our cry for help has been responded to the by wonderful team at Noranda Vets.
DEEP TROUBLE
Marilyn was named for her beauty spot, but poor Marilyn was in deep trouble when she was admitted to Celebrity Pets Rescue. She had suffered such a trauma, probably from an attack by a dog, that she had two large rips in her flank muscles, which herniated and caused her intense pain.
ANOTHER SUCCESS
But Noranda Vets to the rescue – Marilyn has been operated on and the Vets successfully repaired both her hernias. She is now almost fully recovered, saved the two bald spots!
URGENCY
These are just 2 of the many cases we assist with. We can’t wait for fundraising activities to help these animals, they need our immediate intervention. Noranda Vets understand this and have been helping us with these emergencies for as long as I can remember. They never question about payment and never refuse service because we haven’t paid for the last surgery.
EXHAUSTED
But our coffers have been running on empty for months, and we are all exhausted. So we are here again asking for help – and I know we are one of many in a long line of animal rescues.
