Maybe you're a veteran returning to civilian life. Maybe you're rebuilding after incarceration. Maybe you're living on a fixed income, recovering from addiction, or simply trying to find stability after an unexpected life change. You have the desire to move forward, but finding safe, affordable housing feels just out of reach.
This is the reality for many individuals throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, and it's the reason I developed Ruth Essie Housing.
Ruth Essie Housing was founded on a simple belief: everyone deserves more than just a roof over their head. They deserve a clean, safe, structured home where they can feel respected, supported, and part of a community while building a more stable future.
Over the past several months, I've dedicated myself to turning this vision into reality. I've developed partnerships with community organizations, met with case managers and program directors, created referral relationships, established our policies and procedures, and laid the foundation for a housing program that will serve our community for years to come.
Today, I'm at one of the final steps before opening our housing location.
The only thing standing between this vision and welcoming our program participants is securing the funds needed for the home's leasing costs. My goal is to be ready the moment the right property becomes available. I don't want to lose the opportunity to provide housing simply because the startup funds aren't in place.
Your support will help transform an empty house into a place where someone can finally exhale, unpack their belongings, and begin a new chapter with dignity and hope.
Our Immediate Goal
Our goal is to reach this fundraising milestone within the next four weeks so we can secure our Ruth Essie Housing location and begin welcoming residents in August. Every day matters because every day someone in our community is searching for a safe, stable place to call home.
By raising the funds needed for the security deposit and initial lease costs, we'll be ready to move forward as soon as the right home becomes available—allowing us to begin serving individuals without unnecessary delays.
The planning is complete. The participant waitlist and partnerships are growing. Now we're ready to take the final step—opening the door to our Ruth Essie home.
