Dear Supporters,

We are overjoyed to share some wonderful news with you!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of each and every one of you, we have made significant progress towards rescuing a fourth elephant. We are extremely thrilled to announce that we got help in raising the funds to purchase Kham Coon, the elephant we were aiming to rescue. As a result, we are officially closing this fundraiser early.

While this means that we will no longer need additional funds, please rest assured that the contributions you’ve already made will still be put to very good use. These funds will help cover the ongoing expenses for her care and future at Somboon Legacy Foundation.

We want to take this opportunity to extend our deepest thanks to each of you. Your support has been absolutely vital in making this rescue a reality, and Kham Coon’s future is now brighter and safer because of your generosity.

🌟 We need your help to rescue an exploited old elephant!

We are the Somboon Legacy Foundation, a hands-off elephant sanctuary (NGO) dedicated to caring for old and mistreated elephants, based in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

To save another elephant we are fundraising €37.000 so we can buy an elephant and give it a safe home, where it can live in peace with our other elephants.

Our elephants Malee, Kammoon and Kham Phaeng are not young anymore, they are between 60 and 90 years old! They enjoy a restful and peaceful retirement.

Elephants can die of heartbreak 
when their elephant companion dies.

We want to bring in a companion for Malee, Kammoon and especially Kham Phaeng, in order to provide a strong emotional support.

Elephants are social animals and are not supposed to live in solitary. We worry that should one of our elderly elephants die, the other will die of heartbreak shortly afterwards. Being an NGO, we do not generate profits, so we have very limited resources and finances available to us. This is why we need your help. 

💡 Elephants abuse in Thailand

Elephants symbolize strength, intelligence, and compassion in Buddhism. However, over  3000 elephants  in Thailand suffer in captivity, enduring harsh treatment and emotional distress. Many of them are in camps, zoos and so-called sanctuaries. Sadly most of them do not get the treatment and respect they need and deserve.
