Puppy Rescue Mission hasn't added a story.
Meet SIF of Romania~
Also know as Red, Foxy, FOU and litter mate to Simona.
"There isn't a legit name for the dog but I call him Sif. He isn't the most liked dog on base and he doesn't get fed like the others. It is a beautiful dog and I'd like to give him a good home."
It has come to our awareness that the DOD employees have been feeding him for the past year and he was abused by some of our soldiers because he was a skittish dog. That breaks our hearts. We believe the entire litter was mistreated by some that were not dog lovers. The soldier that is adopting him had a good friendship with him along with the DOD people. He escaped his foster in Houston the day he arrived and luckily the foster put an AirTag on him and we were able to track him while he was on the run. He survived the Hurricane that hit Houston the week of July 7th. We were shocked how well he did during that hurricane. This dog is small like a fox and many that had sightings of him thought he was a fox. With the help of some ladies, Polly & Teri in Houston he eventually was caught and then brought to Dallas. The soldier will not be home for a month so SIF is now at a behavorist to work thru some of his fears and get training so he can live the best life possible in Louisiana with the soldier. He is a sweet dog and just needs confidence and trust. We have full faith this dog will get there. The cost for this board and train is $4500 for 6-8 weeks. This is truly a small price to pay to get him adjusted to life as a domestic pet.
Thank you to these people who helped during SIF's ESCAPADE~ Laura & Troy Gariner, Amanda Meissner, Ali Heller, Kristen with Mission K9, Dwight & Lisa, Christy, Debbie, Holly, Jennifer Grape, Polly Wark, Teri Goodnight, Deirdre Chavez, Susan, Anne, Mike, Four-wheeler guy with sighting on day 1, Darci, Sydney, Vicki, Pam, Sophia, Jan, Alicia, Angela, Erin, Melanie, Judy & all those that sent text, called or messaged with info to help this little guy. It truly took a village to accomplish this!!!
Please help us today by donating whatever you can. Thank you and we will update his stay at The Collar Academy in Denton, TX as often as is possible.
In
Bucharest, Romania at boarding.
As a puppy in Romania 2023.
In Houston when he arrived.
In
Romania with his Soldier:
This
travel is about 17 miles with him zig zagging thru neighborhood and
most of his travels was at night. We did find an area when he
bedded down for the day but we could not catch him 2x as with the
hurricane there were not people able to help us.
He was then located by someone in a neighborhood under a bench on a
neighborhood pond. That is the site they actually were able to trap
him.
SIF has been with a family for a week and spent time in the vet clinic getting Fluids and medicine for Giardia and once he was well again he went to the Collar Academy July 17th to start his training. He is still scared of the people so not much is happening except basic care so he can get acclimated to his new environment. We are so anxious to know he is going to be fine as this dog is very special and so so smart.
SIF with the mobile groomer getting all cleaned up. He did GREAT!!! A bit spicy as they describe him but oh so good.
With
is foster Laura and Troy who picked him up at the Houston Airport on
Friday, July 5th. They were warriors tracking him for 4 days and it
was hard doing this while a hurricane was hitting Houston.
Thank You Men and Women for your service to our country. It is because of your dedication that we live in The Land of the Free, Because of the Brave. Paw Salute!

SIF is doing so good in training and now trusts people as long as it is a few people. Large groups still make him nervous. He is following commands and improving everyday. We are so encouraged at his progress.
