The combination of Covid and inflation has exhausted our funding and ability to complete this year’s harvest. We are seeking your help to get the harvest underway. Once we have the harvest well underway, it will be our pleasure to return to you an equivalent value in our golden Jojoba oil.
We are a small organic Jojoba producer, formed as an operational partnership between Orkem Oil LLC (grower) and Oro de Sonora (manufacturing, packaging and distribution). That’s the official description, in truth, it’s just three families with a passion for sustainable organic family farming without all the corporate fuss and overhead.
We have been working together for many years to create a viable business delivering the highest quality organic Jojoba oil to both industry and individual consumers. And we have been successful, maintaining 120 acres of production and delivering both seed and oil products to a growing base of consumers.
Until these past two years, where we have been struck by the perfect wave….first Covid and now inflation. Covid has interrupted our ability to hire contract farming crews who assist the family in bed maintenance and harvest. The second, Inflation has seen the cost of energy we use for pumping water, fueling farm equipment, as well as the cost of the contract labor we use. Basically, the cost of water delivery has tripled, fuel prices are up by nearly double and contract labor teams' costs have increased by 30%, The combination has exhausted our funding and we are seeking help to complete this year’s harvest.
However, the good news is we have had a bumper year in yield, and we currently have a sufficient crop in the fields to cover our expenses for the coming year, however, we need to harvest first. If we fail to secure funds to harvest the crop, it will be lost and we risk losing two generations of our families' commitment to growing the finest Jojoba here in Arizona.

Jojoba farming initially started with a mission to save the whales in the 1980s as it was common practice to use sperm whale oil in cosmetics. It was found that jojoba oil has the same molecular structure as this sperm whale oil and could be a renewable replacement in beauty products.
Our goal is to continue to provide a locally grown, single-ingredient, high-quality moisturizer at a realistic price. When we say high quality, we mean growing and harvesting seeds in their native habitat and hand sorting to be pressed and hand bottled, truly in artisanal fashion on a family farm, creating a clean, natural alternative for commercial moisturizing products that have too many ingredients that most of us can’t pronounce.
