Libby is a sweet 10 year old boy. Even though he's a senior guy,
he acts and looks younger. Libby was recently surrendered due to his
owner going into nursing
care. They didn't allow cats in to the nursing home and asked us
for help.
We found a found a foster home for Libby. However, when we took
Libby in we found out that he has hyperthroidism.
It's a very hard to adopt out a cat that is hyperthroid because
they need daily medication to maintain the disease. There is a
medical procedure (radioiodine therapy) that can be done which
eliminates the need for daily medication but the procedure is
expensive. However, Libby's elderly owner
didn't want him to put him down and offered to pay for half of
the treatment
for Libby if we fostered him. We agreed to take in Libby.
He loves his foster mom and follows her everywhere. He head
butts her
all the time and loves to cuddle up to her as well.
We're asking to help pay half the cost for Libby's radioiodine
treatment. We are already getting this treatment at a
discount price of $1600. This fee includes all the
bloodwork and xrays that he'll need prior to the treatment. We need
to raise $800 more to cure Libby. After his treatment, Libby can
then go into the
adoption process to find a forever home.
