'Highway' was found on I75  in Florida after he fell out of a moving horse trailer that malfunctioned and the door opened. The driver knew that he fell out of the trailer but kept driving because he didn’t want to get in trouble as he was on the way to slaughter. Alachua county sheriffs department picked 'Highway" up from the side of the road. He then received immediate medical attention from the wonderful team at SpringHill veterinary hospital then received surgery at EMCO because his joint around his knee had asphalt inside of it. Highway had been recovering very well up until Wednesday evening when all of a sudden his knee became very painful and hot. Highway was rushed back to the equine hospital for immediate medical attention, he has been on close monitoring while pumping him ful l of antibiotics. They are currently performing a surgery to see how far the infection has spread and if there are any gravel remnants from the surgery.
