In 2016 I decided to sell all of my possessions and become voluntarily homeless to help support the community doing a free and accessible tour called the "Taking it to the Streets Tour." The tour's focus is to build a grass roots movement of consciousness by living with people who invite me into their home sharing every tool i have that contributes to my miracle status.
As potentially the most healed from Multiple Sclerosis in the world using only diet and lifestyle my "Bag of Tricks" is full of empowering tools that anyone can access for free. In the 1st year the tour was recognized with 5 awards and was granted a TEDx. In addition the tour served almost 15,000 individuals in the USA through home visits, talks, cooking classes, workshops, webinars and much more.
In order to make the tour 100% accessible to everyone it is free or donation based. To date the tour continues to grow and be well received with visit requests averaging about 5 weekly.
One of the largest expenses touring relates to accommodations. if you invite me and cannot offer me a place to stay I still come absorbing the housing costs. The core principle of the tour is to serve everyone who asks for help and this is an outcome of this desire.
In an effort to continue to tour a sponsor generously donated the down payment for the purchase of a 2018 Dodge ProMaster Van. The intention is to have the BAM van (Believe in a Miracle) converted into a touring van to support the 'Taking it to the Streets Tour."
The BAM van will become an off the grid community powered movement machine.
The BAM van removes another tour barrier by providing a home and removing accommodation costs. You see if you invited me to come, but could not house me I still came and paid for a place to stay. I am touring to serve everyone and this is the most important element of my work. The BAM van assures I can do this & I have committed to continue for the next 5 years believing the dream of building a movement of consciousness will be realized after a total of 7 years touring.
Next step is I need to build out the van to be the touring BAM van and I need your help. After posting on Facebook the community recommended we do a crowdfunding to get the BAM van done.
The plan is to do as much of the work myself as possible. I believe this will be another level of healing emotionally for me in addition to the inspiration it will be for others. To think that not only 5 years ago my hands could not be used for simple tasks and now I hope to build out a touring van is a remarkable reality I hope to realize in this journey.
I have never built anything in my life beyond Ikea furniture so this will be a huge undertaking. However things like electrical, solar and HVAC will have to be done by professionals for safety alone. I have worked hard to price out the build and the basic needs can be met with $3500 raised.
As of today I am already nominated for 3 awards in 2018: Rising Star, Inspirational Voice and Best Website which confirms the community loves the work I am doing because you all nominated me for these awards. Feeling how vital this movement is becoming I hope you are as excited as I am to get the BAM van on the road so we can continue to raise the roof on life together through a collective consciousness that is community powered.
