Sisters in the Building Trades hasn't added a story.
Our Sisters on the other side of the globe need our help and support to connect to their Sisters in the Building Trades, and further their work. Negucci Women In Construction & Technology in Abuja, Nigeria is a nonprofit teaching women and empowering them to work in the Construction Industry. We hit our first Goal, and with the help of the Chicago Women in Trades, brought three representatives from Nigeria to the Women Build Nations Conference, where Patricia Bagudu spoke at the Global Tradeswomen workshop.
The founder, Sheryl Brown will be speaking at a meeting of the Sisters in the Building Trades, in collaboration with Seattle NOW, and the Department of Labor Women's Bureau, on June 11th, at the South Seattle Community College. Funds will be used to provide a bag, fill it with 50 pounds donated construction trades training material, and fly it back with her.
Funds will also be used to construct a 40X48X70 inch shipping crate to be filled with donations of tools and gear and ship it to Nigeria to help with the first Women and Youth construction apprenticeship program in Abuja.
After that funds raised will be set aside for future outreach and to bring one representative to Women Build Nations 2017 to continue our connection to our Sisters in Nigeria.
Donations can be brought to the meeting. Materials that can be shipped by e-copy can be e-mailed to negucciwomen@gmail.com . You are also very welcome to take advantage of the US postal service flat rate shipping box and send it to Negucci Women In Construction & Technology C/O The Sisters in the Building Trades at 17701 108th Avenue SE, PMB #131, Renton, WA 98055
Negucci Women In Construction & Technology {NWICT} is a nonprofit organization
Our mission is to support the socio-economic development of
women and improve the quality of their lives by equipping enthusiastic
and dedicated women who want to build their future and careers in the
Construction Industry. We empower our women with
direct access
to the tools, training, and resources they need for meaningful change.
Our Skill Acquisition Training Program spanning from 2011-2017
has a goal to improve women's livelihood through their active
participation in the Construction Industry. The program provides
hands-on training in construction, teaching women to build, with 21st
technology. It also provides women with opportunities for support,
creating employment, entrepreneurship, networking, project management
and community involvement, as we build a better tomorrow.
In 2009, through public and private sector
partnership/sponsorship, we broke barriers and succeeded in bringing
together women in the construction industry here in Nigeria and
offering them new opportunities, challenges and rewards.
