The Governance Committee, a sub-committee of North Westside Communities Association, provides the voice of the communities’ majority wishes as they pertain to the following services:
- Water
- Fire
- Waste
- Community Parks
- Planning
This is where we have the opportunity to decide, through group action, what is the best option for our tax money. The North Westside is our home, and we have opted to live here because of what the area offers us...a life away from big city living.
We want to ensure that we are treated as fairly as other communities. By working together, we hope to initiate a governance study funded by the province that will review our present tax spending. This study will determine whether or not the present system under Regional District works for us, or perhaps another form of governance can save us substantial taxes...that would help us keep our taxes within our area. The North Westside governance committee is seeking funding to assist in the collection, organization, and distribution of information to our residents. This will allow residents to make an educated choice on our future governance options and the costs/implications upon the taxpayer.
