We are looking to raise funds for an exciting charity weekender event to raise money for Young Minds . George werb and former member of confidance served as the inspiration of this new project which has been created by Sara Perry, Niki Cozens, madeliene Cozens and georges mother Joanne Werb. Georges sad passing was also an awakening of the serious issues concerning young people and mental health and the questions surrounding   The weekend of events will be held in Colyton Town Hall to raise awareness on August 7th & 8th which will include ‘FreeBird’ an inspirational performance piece devised by Sara Perry, a theatre workshop, a high tea and children’s discos amongst other things.George one of the first students to join Confidance, was a valued member which started in 2007 and his passing was a great sadness to those close to him and all those who knew him. After his death in 2013 Sara teamed up with George’s Mother Joanne Werb and long term associate Niki Cozens to bring back the heart of what Confi-dance and was all about.  Helping and empowering all children and those who have mental health and emotional issues.    ‘Without sounding too cliché George was Confi-dance’ and what it was all about! When I first met George he was shy and reserved and wouldn’t look me in the eye. I was constantly left wondering whether he had enjoyed the sessions and it would not have come as a surprise if he hadn’t returned after the first term came to an end. He did return though again and again, term after term and soon proved to be a unique and gifted performer.   Back in 2007 we had many loud and lively personalities making it easy for children like George to become lost in the crowd but this never seemed to bother him. Observing the situation I noticed that it was not the case of being pushed out but that he allowed his colleagues to take centre stage if they chose seeming to be happy to along with their ideas and stepping into whichever role necessary. Watching him work I saw a student who had wonderful team spirit and a real love for every role, committing wholeheartedly however small that part may have been.  George became an inspiration to live up for myself and to so many who had the benefit of acting along side him.  I will always remember the time when we put on a showcase and he stepped on stage and sang a song by Michael Jackson. He not only wowed everyone with his ability to sing but also to sound so much like the icon himself.  Through the years George came in to his own and his in-depth research and characterisation worked in his favour when he landed the lead role of Bugsy Malone which he will always be remembered for.’  I became are that all the children had Although the Confi-dance officially shut down for in 2012
