YOUR BRIDGEWATER SKATEPARK
Bridgewater is a bustling river town on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia surrounded by lively rural communities and breathtaking landscapes. Bridgewater is up front in the conversation about sustainability and active lifestyles. Choices around active transportation and access to public spaces are evident priorities for Bridgewater and its residents.
For years, this community has been planning a skatepark. Wonderful efforts have been made to offer workshops, invest in equipment for loan, build temporary structures and fundraise through demo events and bottle drives as example.
A couple years ago, the location was secured and funds were raised to pay Spectrum SkateParks, a world leader in skatepark design and construction, to design a 10,000 sq ft skate plaza complete with challenging ramps, bowls, rails, and also featuring a beginner street leg. Check it out!
The Bridgewater Skatepark Committee has been working behind the scenes to put a plan in place to get this awesome free, public, active space built. The location for the park has access to trails and is wedged between the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre and a new private development focusing on health and fitness. It couldn't be better placed!
PHASE I of the park is going to cost $500,000 to build. The Town of Bridgewater has contributed significant funds to kick-off the fundraising efforts for the construction. Contributions have also come in from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, the Bridgewater Development Association and Corporate Sponsors who will be announced during the campaign.
We have nearly $300,000 in the bank. We have a Sponsorship Package offering fantastic visibility during this crowdfunding campaign and we know that certain Provincial funders will be watching our campaign to gauge PUBLIC SUPPORT for the Bridgewater Skatepark.
If we are able to raise some good donations through crowdfunding and show the need and desire to build a skatepark for Bridgewater, then we will have a very good case when it comes to securing the outstanding funds from our public and private partners!
We are going to try and turn every dollar you donate into another dollar from a Corporate or Government Sponsor. So, keep in mind your power as a citizen to leverage support from others through your own donation!
Together we can build something that's been missing from the landscape, a friendly, accessible space that rewards those who are not necessarily involved in organized sports, but feel at home in an active, skilled & social environment like a skatepark. This will be a skatepark for all ages that will challenge your game, strengthen your abilities and your sense of belonging.
Together, we can put Bridgewater on the map as a hotspot for skateboarding, BMXing, scooter-riding and rollerblading. Your contributions will certainly pay for materials and labour... but it is guaranteed to buy some happiness too!
