Alzheimer Society Peel hasn't added a story.
Brunel Day Program was established in 2010; our program welcomes individuals who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Brunel brings these individuals together through friendship, joy, a sense of purpose and belonging. We vision a grand opportunity to utilize the outdoor space and incorporate many of our programming ideas in the outdoors. Having an outside patio will benefit our member’s in ways that words cannot describe.
In summer 2016 we began renovating our patio by constructing a cement walkway and patio platform. Members have participated in updating the garden and caring for our plant life so that one day we could all sit and enjoy its surroundings. We are seeking funds for the purchase of new patio furniture, gardening supplies and equipment, and safety enhancements to our walkway and fencing.
With the completion of an enclosed patio area members will be able to enjoy the outdoors which is vital to their wellbeing. This patio will also allow staff to incorporate purposeful outdoor programs such as: gardening, bird watching, art programs, science projects, meditation, picnics, discussion groups etc. Being outdoors and feeling the heat of the sun is a wonderful way for seniors to mend their physical, mental and emotional health.
Should anyone have any questions or concerns about the campaign or the Society please contact b.deimling@alzheimerpeel.com.
About Alzheimer Society Peel
The Alzheimer Society Peel was incorporated in 1983 as a charitable non-profit organization to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias; to help find the cause, prevention and cure. Since that time, our Chapter has diligently worked to support families and individuals affected by the disease. The Society serves the Region of Peel through our offices in Brampton and Mississauga. Our Chapter promotes public and professional awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and offers a variety of programs and services. All services and programs operate either free of charge or for a nominal fee. We offer Day Programs, counselling, support and bereavement groups, public education, the First Link Program, volunteer opportunities and access to a 24 hour respite care home. Alzheimer Society Peel works with all service providers to ensure that optimum health and social services are provided for the family and persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in the Region of Peel. In our last Fiscal Year the chapter served over 42,000 individuals. Alzheimer Society Peel is the largest chapter in Canada and the first to become accredited for its services and programs by CARF International.
