Rebecca Bouchard hasn't added a story.
I first walked into Griffins shortly after turning 40, looking for a new way to motivate myself. I never imagined that I would have a chance to get in the ring for an actual fight (at my age!) until Knockout For A Cause was born.
As someone who has lived with mental illness for over 20 years, I know how critical it is to have access to support services in times of need, and how especially crucial this is during a person's youth.
I'm raising money for Foundry Wellness on the North Shore. Foundry North Shore offers young people 12-24 access to mental health and substance use support, primary care, peer support and social services.
Boxing is a big part of my wellness toolbox, and training for my first fight on June 6 is the motivation I need to meet my goal of raising $2000 to help provide access to care and support for youth.
So I'm asking you for your support, if you can contribute to my fundraising goal, and if not, cheer me on from the sidelines while I train and fight!
The Why.
Everyone has something they’re fighting for. Knockout for A Cause unites individuals, fighting for individual causes, but fighting as part of a team.
Knockout For A Cause is the North Shore’s first ever boxing fight night of its kind, featuring a wide range of contenders representing every industry. Coming together from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, contenders train for one reason: to support the community, and the causes near and dear to them.
The How.
Anyone living in North Vancouver/West Vancouver, or working in North Vancouver/West Vancouver, can apply to be a contender, and fundraise in Knockout For A Cause. KFAC welcomes participants who have no boxing experience [or basic, beginner-level boxing experience], and are ready to start the journey to step into the ring. To qualify for a fight, contenders are expected to raise a minimum of $2,000 for their designated cause, which can be selected from the list of participating organizations. Raising the minimum amount does not guarantee you a fight, rather makes you applicable for one. Fight match-ups are contingent on registered contenders, experience levels, training, and a variety of many other factors. KFAC is a high-intensity training process, and contenders commit to being in the gym, fundraising, and putting in the work. Contenders are expected to attend a minimum of three classes per week, in order to accomplish all of the respective Boxtech® Glove System Wrap levels, and related Boxtech® testing dates.

Fund distribution.
The unique component of Knockout For A Cause which differentiates it from other fundraising initiatives: Knockout A Cause gives contenders the opportunity to fight on behalf of the causes that mean the most to them, as opposed to a pre-designated organization. Contenders can select the organization where they have a personal connection, and a cause that resonates with them and their community. Contenders can choose to fundraise for any of the participating North Vancouver and West Vancouver organizations/non-profits. Meet them here: https://griffinsboxing.com/knockout-for-a-cause/ After minimal administrative costs [for donation processing on this site], 100% of funds raised will be directed to the contender's organization of choice.
