Project Write is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create meaningful experiences with writing for both students and adults in a safe environment in order to have a lasting and influential effect on their lives.

To pursue this mission, Project Write offers a variety of programs designed to connect young writers, parents, students of all levels, professional writers, university faculty, and the community-at-large.

The Young Writers’ Program at Project Write strives to provide positive experiences with writing that both encourage imaginative processes and develop confidence with the communication of ideas in a safe and supportive environment.  All of our programs are run by National Writing Project Teacher Consultants, some of the best teachers in the country.

Many of our Young Writers, however, cannot afford to attend our programs because of the cost.  We are fortunate to offer some scholarships through a grant, but this does not help the wide majority of our writers.  We would love for every student who wants to attend one of our programs to be able to do so, whether this means a discounted registration fee or a full scholarship. 

In addition, we also try to have published authors as presenters for our students and would love to offer more programs throughout the school year where students can write and work with these authors. We also like to provide the students with a copy of a book by our guest author so that they can get it autographed.  Sometimes just meeting an author fuels the creativity of a student to pursue his or her own writing goals.

We offer notebooks, pens, and snacks to our students at our workshops, but would love to provide our summer program attendees with t-shirts and to honor those young writers who continue to come back each year with a pin or a memento of their growth and achievement as writers.

Offering writing contests with tangible prizes and being able to pubish our young writers' pieces into a journal would be further reward for them to see themselves as actual published writers.  We strive to empower these students to put their voices out there for the world to hear.  Please help us to achieve this goal!
