Here at Mariano Gonzalez Sr. Elementary School, we
believe in fostering both the mental
and physical health of a child. Simply put, a
healthy child has fewer absences, learns better, and is less likely to
develop weight-related diseases later in life.
Schools play a vital role in the wellness of children. Students
spend almost as many waking hours at school as they do at home, and
consume up to two thirds of their daily calories here. This means we
have an important opportunity – and responsibility – to teach and
reinforce healthy habits.
How do we do this? Together with the CATCH coordinated school
health program, we tackle school wellness from all angles. Take a walk
through our school and you’ll see health-oriented messaging and
activities in our classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and playground. We
involve everyone from district administration, to teachers, food
service staff, and parents. The biggest impact is made when we all work
together
– and you can help!

- Healthy Fresh fruit and water for wellness ($200.00)
- Cement Slab for children to sit in ($1,200.00)
- Two Car Port to put in cement slab for the kid to have shade . ($800.00)
- Two 65 inch Samsung Smart TVs for doing aerobics, Just Dance, Fitness Gram ($1,400.00)
- 100 meters of cable for the TVs ($100.00)
- Medals and Ribbons for awards for students ($600.00)
- Physical Education Training registration/member fee/ food and travel/ Lodging (600.00)
